Summer has arrived and we’re enjoying our delicious homemade cold brews, often as part of a refreshing cold brew gin & tonic. Don’t you just love that too?
For our August ’16 box, we teamed up with three amazing coffee roasters, two of which are making their debut in one of our coffee boxes and one who is coming back for a second time. Make sure to order your box by August 15th to avoid missing out on this very special edition.
#1: Allpress
Allpress first started out as a coffee cart at Auckland’s Victoria Park markets. Driven by a passion for outstanding flavour, Michael Allpress over the years turned his humble coffee cart into one of the biggest specialty coffee businesses in New Zealand, now operating a total of six roasteries across the world.
In 2000, Allpress ventured across the Tasman sea to set up shop in Sydney and Melbourne, before arriving in London in 2010 and Tokyo in 2014.
The team is driven by a deeply rooted commitment to sourcing the finest Arabica coffees directly from producers across the world and roasting these coffees to perfection before being served at one of Allpress’ own cafés or many accounts across the world.
We’re proud to work with Allpress for our August ’16 coffee box and featuring one of their spectacular seasonal filter blends inside a limited edition black metal tin, only available at Allpress and through us.
Our selected coffee from Allpress:
Indonesia, Wahana Estate (Two of a kind)
Dairi, 1.200 – 1.500masl
60% Longberry washed & 40% Rasuna natural

#2: Norð
This fine roastery, bakery and restaurant with its own cocktail bar started out at Grünerløkka Kaffehus back in 2012. Founder Joakim Strand wanted to create a place that used only the freshest and finest ingredients, and this also translates into what they do with their coffees today.
The team at Norð works directly with a number of fine producers, making sure that a significant part of their revenue is reinvested into infrastructure and educational projects at origin.
In typical Nordic fashion, roast master Nikolai Aunbakk lightly roasts Norð’s coffees using their new Diedrich 25kg roaster.
By joining our August ’16 line up, Norð becomes the 4th Norwegian roaster to feature of their coffees in our coffee box.
Our selected coffee from Norð:
Colombia, Edgar Nuñez
Huila, 1.800 – 2.000masl
Tabi – Washed

#3: Coutume
One of the earliest pioneers in the Parisian specialty coffee scene, Coutume was founded by Australian Tom Clark and Frenchman Antoine Netien. Their idea was to bring Australian hospitality and coffee culture to the French capital and offer Parisians an opportunity to discover specialty coffee in a relaxed and friendly environment.
These days, Coutume also operates cafés in Tokyo and Osaka, and is planning a few more outposts in other cities around Europe and potentially Asia.
Their passion for excellent food and coffee has earned them a worldwide following and we’re excited to welcome them back to one of our coffee boxes for the second time.
Our selected coffee from Coutume:
Burundi, Mpanga
Kabuye, 1.600 – 1.800masl
Red Bourbon – Washed for filter & natural for espresso

Don’t miss out on our upcoming coffee boxes!
Every month, we feature three spectacular coffees from the likes of: La Cabra, Drop Coffee, The Barn, Koppi, The Coffee Collective, Tim Wendelboe and more.
What a great trio of roasters, it is clear that they all have a creative passion and real dedication to their coffee craft, so to speak. I like Nord’s idea of having a cocktail bar in their cafe, I wonder if they include coffee in any of the drinks, I’m sure it would make an interesting mix! It is also wonderful that they reinvest into infrastructure and education at origin, it shows a true dedication to their relationships with the growers, and ethical production, I’m sure the coffee tastes better for it!
That is a good question indeed! Worth finding out 🙂
