Ethiopia produces some of the finest coffees in the world and here at The Coffeevine we always love sharing coffees from this origin to showcase the full spectrum of quality and cup profiles available in the birth place of coffee.
About two years ago we shared a truly exquisite Wote roasted for us by Parlor Coffee Roasters in Brussels, and now, we’re thrilled to feature a new coffee from this processing station, this time roasted by Weekenders Coffee in Kyoto.
Yirgacheffe is widely regarded as one of the finest coffee producing regions in Ethiopia, offering an amazing spectrum of flavours and very high quality standarts. The Wote mill collects coffees from approximately 600 smallholders from the surrounding area, most of whom work with organic compost rather than pruning. The coffees produced here are all of mixed heirloom varieties, consisting of native wild growing cherries and Typica hybrids.
After separating the unripe and overripe cherries from the mass, the coffee is then depulped and soaked in fresh water for 24-48h before being moved to typical raised drying beds where it dries for 10 – 15 days.
Weekenders Coffee particularly loved this coffee and proudly shared it with our tasting team before making the final cut of our December ’16 selection. We’re thrilled to welcome our first Japanese roaster to our coffee box and happy to, once more, share an exquisite Wote with our customers.
