Like so many things in life, The Coffeevine was born out of a series of unexpected events.
During a visit to Toronto in 2012 where Coffeevine founder Alex Kitain got lost in a warehouse district while trying to find a museum, he stumbled upon a small specialty coffee bar where he was served his first cup of hand-brewed single origin that change the course of his life forever.
Driven by a newfound curiosity to learn as much about specialty coffee as possible and uncover the handful of cafés in his hometown of Amsterdam that served it, he set up The Coffeevine as a blog to share his personal coffee bar recommendations, brew guides and other stories with the aim to meet likeminded people.
What started out as a side gig quickly became a globally recognised name in the specialty coffee industry with thousands of readers visiting The Coffeevine blog every month and brands like Airbnb, KLM, Hostelworld and Lonely Planet reaching out for collaborations. And when life took another unexpected turn, Alex used this as an opportunity to launch The Coffevine’s own coffee subscription box with one simple goal: to share the world’s most delicious coffees with people all over the world.
Since shipping out its first coffee boxes in 2014, The Coffeevine has gone from strength to strength, winning various awards along the way and firmly establishing itself as Europe’s favourite coffee subscription service with loyal customers in over 50 countries.
It has worked with more than 300 hand-picked roasters, featured many extraordinary coffees and continuously publishes unique content that sheds more light on coffee producers, roasters and different brew methods.
It’s Alex’s unrivalled passion and unique commitment to building personal relationships with every partner and customer that helped push The Coffeevine to new highs over the past few years and will inspire the company’s direction for many more years to come.
