It’s gotta be said, so far this winter has not been too bad. As I sit here typing up this text, the sun is rising behind the buildings opposite my house and I am already looking forward to another gorgeous, albeit very cold, sunny weekend here in Amsterdam. We have a couple of big things happening in the next few weeks, including the Amsterdam Coffee Festival where we will have our own joint stand with sister company Freshdrip. For our upcoming [3/18] coffee box we have put together a very tasty selection of coffees for you, this time coming from two new Coffeevine roasters and one old friend who is returning to our coffee box after a two-year absence. From Czechia, France and Germany, please welcome Doubleshot, Coffee Makers and Wood Grouse who will be roasting three exquisite and carefully selected coffees for you next month.

Doubleshot is Czechia’s most prominent specialty coffee roaster; a company that was founded by Jaroslav Tuček more than eight years ago after spending time visiting Central American coffee producers. His goal was to bring outstanding and transparantly sourced coffees to the people of Prague and beyond, and over the years Doubleshot has become a force to be reckoned with.
Most of its coffees are sourced directly or with the help of wonderful people like Lennart Clerkx of This Side Up who we have championed since day one.

Compared to other European countries, France is still lagging behind somewhat when it comes to its place on the specialty coffee map, but over the years we have discovered and worked with a great number of exciting coffee roasters, from Paris and beyond, who are transforming the French coffee scene bit by bit, and Coffee Makers from Lille are no exception.
Founders Mat and Colin met on a coffee forum while both were living in Lille and soon discovered their joint passion for specialty coffee. Before long, they founded the city’s first specialty coffee bar and roastery and we’re thrilled to welcome them to our next coffee box as another flag bearer for the land of ‘Les Bleus’.

Wood Grouse from Germany is a relative newcomer to the scene and we’re very happy to be the first to work with this boutique coffee roastery for our upcoming coffee box. Founded by Arno Auer in the city of Hanover, Wood Grouse has a very ambitious commitment to quality by exclusively sourcing its coffees through Nordic Approach and focusing mainly on Africa. That was also how we ended up with one of the most curious coffees we’ve selected in a berry long time. Excuse me, very long time. 😉
