Featured in our upcoming [4/18] coffee box with a gorgeous Kenyan coffee from Ngurueri (AA)

In April we’re celebrating four years of Coffeevine and as always, we reached out to a couple of great roasters who we wanted to work with for our special 4th birthday coffee box. The goal was to bring together some old and new friends who had never been featured in the same coffee subscription before. After tasting and scoring a lot of really great coffees, our team settled on its absolute favourite coffees, one of which will come from Macchörndl Kaffee in Nürnberg, Germany.

Before setting up his own roastery, founder Armin Macchörndl and his friend Thomas Schweiger ran the legendary coffee bar green & bean in Ansbach and in 2007 Armin participated in the German Barista Championships, giving him an even completer perspective of the competitive environment that specialty coffee really is.

By the time he founded Macchörndl as his own roastery, he had one goal in mind: to change the perception of coffee amongst German coffee drinkers and to put Bavaria on the specialty coffee map.

Most of the coffees that Armin and his wonderful team roast are micro-lots, sourced and roasted with lots of love and care, just like the spectacular Ngurueri AA from Kenya that we selected for our upcoming [4/18] coffee box.

The factory is located in the Embu region on the slopes of Mount Kenya and was first opened in the 1970’s to service local smallholder producers. Today, it works with roughly 940 farmers who deliver their coffees to this washing station for inspection, weighing and processing. The coffees that it produces are known for their cleanliness and vibrant flavours.
