Dear Coffeeviner,
I’d like to take a moment of your time to share some important updates about our upcoming price changes and what’s ahead for The Coffeevine.
🌍 The State of Coffee
Over the past 12 months, the coffee industry has faced serious turbulence. Commodity prices more than doubled, peaking at $432 per 1000 lb in November 2024. And while this mainly affected lower-grade coffees, specialty producers have also been hit hard by inflation, climate challenges, labour shortages, and global shipping disruptions.
Despite all of this, we haven’t raised our prices in several years — something we’ve been proud of. But in order to continue bringing you the exciting coffees and roasters you love, we will be introducing a 15% price increase for all Coffeevine boxes, starting with the payment cycle for the September 2025 edition.
Please note: shipping costs will remain unchanged.
💸 Why This Is Necessary
Our business model is built around sourcing great coffees from top-quality roasters, paying them €25 per kg for their coffee and shipping to Amsterdam. The difference between this price and the roaster’s wholesale price is the marketing cost for being featured in The Coffeevine. A fair deal considering the campaign culminates in one of their finest coffees landing on your doorstep. Our global roasters get additional assitance because we cover shipping and customs clearance on their behalf via our Fedex account.
At the same time, prices for everything kept going up.
For many years, we absorbed rising costs to keep your subscription affordable. But lately, our flat rate has made it harder to secure collaborations with both established and up-and-coming roasters. Many European roasters now need higher compensation or support with shipping, something we can offer through our Fedex account.
This adjustment gives us the flexibility to continue offering a wide, exciting range of coffees without compromising on quality.
👥 Growing the Team
After more than 10 years of doing everything myself — from packing boxes to replying to your emails — it’s time to grow.
As I prepare to relocate to Spain, I’m thrilled to welcome Kieran Lobo, a passionate coffee professional based in Amsterdam, who will take over The Coffeevine’s warehouse operations and fulfilment starting in August/September. After many months of researching the best set up going forward, I have concluded that moving the business to Spain is not a good idea right now. I chose Kieran from a bunch of different candidates and am confident he will do a great job.
This change allows The Coffeevine to stay rooted in Amsterdam while giving me the space to focus on content, improvements, and community-building.
I’ll introduce Kieran properly very soon so you can get to know him.
✨ What’s Next
With Kieran on board, we’ll finally be able to bring some long-planned ideas to life — including a refreshed brand identity, better packaging, improved website tools, and more helpful content to enhance your coffee journey.
I also want to host more in-person events to connect with Coffeeviners and friends in real life — something I’ve done sporadically in the past but always gave me huge joy.
These projects take time, focus, and yes, a healthy margin — which is why this price adjustment is such an important step forward.
🔥 An eternal flame
The Coffeevine has never just been a job for me. It’s my passion — one I’ve poured my heart into every single month since day one for more than 10 years.
I know that for many of you, our boxes are a little monthly luxury. A way to discover new roasters, explore different origins, and brew something truly special at home. I don’t take your trust for granted.
Price increases are never easy to announce, but I hope you’ll continue to see the value in what we offer. We remain committed to sourcing the world’s best coffees and sharing them with care, integrity, and love.
Thank you for being part of this journey.

🙋♀️ Frequently Asked Questions
📦 Can I still modify my subscription before the change?
Yes, absolutely. You can always adjust your subscription — whether it’s changing the number of bags, roast profile, shipping method, or switching between our European, Global or All Roasters options. The new prices will go into effect with the September payment cycle, starting on August 16th.
📉 Will there be further price increases this year?
We do not expect any more price increases in 2025. Of course, as recent events have shown, things can change unexpectedly. But for now, this adjustment will help us stay stable going forward.
🇳🇱 Will you continue to ship Coffeevine boxes from Amsterdam?
Yes! Even though I’m moving to Spain, The Coffeevine’s operations will remain in Amsterdam. This is the best way to ensure that everything continues to run smoothly. Spain, unfortunately, has proven too challenging for a small independent coffee business like ours. We will also keep the free-pick up option at Five Ways Kinkerstraat and are working on adding service point deliveries in The Netherlands and possibly other European countries.
