Cihangir in Istanbul is one of the nicest and most spectacularly set neighbourhoods in the Turkish metropolis. In the 80’s and 90’s, this part of town was full of artists, musicians and writers, lending it a wonderfully bohemian flair.

Today, Cihangir is full of cute bars and eateries, independents shops, and great coffee bars. One of them is Norm Coffee. The only specialty coffee bar that owns a Slayer, Norm Coffee is a multi-roaster coffee bar where each coffee is expertly prepared by owner Cem Bozkuş and all the food is freshly made by his partner Gizem Yavuz.
Cem previously spent a few months working at celebrated local restaurant Kantin and later also had a short stint at two of Istanbul’s first specialty coffee roasters, Kronotrop and Petra. “Even before we had this space, I already knew exactly what I wanted; a white Slayer espresso machine. And that literally set the tone. That’s why most of our equipment and decor is white. It’s clean and elegant,” Cem explained.

The coffees served here hail from Kronotrop, Petra and Probador Colectiva, one of the city’s newest coffee roasters. They also have a batch brewer with regularly changing single origin coffees and homemade bottled cold brew.
All of the food served here is made from locally sourced ingredients and full of tasty goodness. The homemade granola with fresh fruit is particularly delicious!
