Days are getting colder, nights are getting longer, coffee’s getting warmer. When the sun doesn’t show its face until after 8am there’s nothing better to give you an early morning kickstart than yoga and a great cup of coffee, made with the super tasty coffees from our upcoming November ’17 box for example. Shameless self-advertising right there.
Next month we’ll be looking forward to welcome back three old friends of ours who we previously featured in our old tasting box but not our current box, so we thought: “Heck! Let’s invite Climpson & Sons, Casino Mocca and Stooker back for another feature!” Having been friends with these awesome guys for many years and having followed their progress in that time was enough reason for us to be sure of our decision to reach out to them. Therefore it shouldn’t come as much as a surprise that their coffees totally confirmed our preference during our most recent cupping session.
So, in anticipation of this stellar lineup’s feature next month, please join us in welcoming our November ’17 box roasters!
PREORDER UNTIL 15-10 / SHIPS ON 20-10
#1: Climpson & Sons
The wonderful team at Climpon & Sons have forever a very special place in our hearts. They were one of three roasters who were featured in our very first every tasting box more than three years ago and they also happened to be one of three roasters to be featured in our last tasting box before we redesigned our format. Their support and love over the years has not been forgotten and we’re incredibly happy to have them back again, this time with a gorgeous Kenya, Slopes of 8 from the Kirinyaga region.
Climpson & Sons are one of London’s most respected specialty coffee roasters with a solid commitment to ethical sourcing and transparency that is manifested in an exquisite range of outstanding coffees. Their welcoming HQ in East London’s Hackney regularly hosts events and has a wonderful terrace where in summer you can have wood-oven baked pizza and great beer. We’ve certainly had one too many with Danny Davies, Henrik Moller, Dan Dunne and the rest of the lovely characters that make this one of the friendliest roasteries we know.
The Kenya that we selected stood out for its gorgeous vibrant acidity, intense citrus flavours and exquisitely balanced mouthfeel. We’ve really been blessed with outstanding Kenya’s recently and this one is another one to behold!
Our selected coffee from Climpson & Sons:
Kenya
Slopes of 8, Kirinyaga
1.900masl
SL28 & SL34 – Washed

#2: Casino Mocca
This outfit from Budapest was one of the first, if not the first, specialty coffee roasters in Hungary and right from the getgo they worked with some of the finest coffees available anywhere. They have a long-running relationship with stellar Norwegian green coffee traders Nordic Approach and their packaging is as intricately designed as their coffees are roasted.
Currently headed by Szabolcs Temesvári and Lajos Horváth, Casino Mocca quickly built a fanbase far beyond its homebase in Budapest and today their exquisite coffees can be found in some of the best coffee shops across Europe and their appearance in our coffee box will take their delicious Ethiopia, Warqee even further!
We’re very happy to welcome Casino Mocca back after a long pause and look forward to sharing their coffee with you all soon.
Our selected coffee from Casino Mocca:
Ethiopia
Warqee, Guji
1.900masl
Mixed Heirloom – Washed
Filter & Espresso
#3 Stooker
Last but not least, Stooker from Amsterdam are making their third appearance in our November ’17 box, next to Climpson & Sons the only other roaster to have been featured this many times since we began. Indeed, we haven’t featured any Amsterdam-based roaster since our feature of Friedhats Coffee at the end of 2016, so we thought it was high time to put our homebase back on the map.
The founder of Stooker, Florian Hessel and Onno van Zanten, have been at the forefront of Amsterdam’s third wave coffee roasting scene since the early days, first as employees of Lot Sixty One and now as the team behind of the city’s most beautiful coffee brands.
Their Ethiopia, Chelelektu washed is a super tasty, well balanced coffee whose natural sibling we recently featured in our October ’17 coffee box, so our subscribers will get to savour the difference between the two!
Our selected coffee from Stooker:
Ethiopia
Chelelektu, Guji
2.000 – 2.200masl
Mixed Heirloom – Washed
Filter & Espresso
Never miss out on any of our yummy boxes!
Every month, we feature three spectacular coffees from the likes of: La Cabra, Drop Coffee, The Barn, Five Elephant, The Coffee Collective, Tim Wendelboe and many more.
Available as a subscription, one off or gift box.
